Following the climate change protests that many young individuals participated in around the country, Stuart Andrew, MP for Pudsey, Horsforth and Aireborough, reached out to all the schools in the constituency to invite them to an Environmental Forum, the first of which was hosted on Friday 6 September.
A series of workshop discussions were held about the issues the children across the constituency are concerned about and the action they would like to see taken internationally, nationally and also locally.
Stuart said: “I was delighted to have such a positive response and so many engaged and interested attendees and I was very impressed with the broad range of ideas the children suggested. The children also came up with many activities and events they would like to see locally, and I look forward to our next Forum so we can develop these ideas further and discuss the responses we receive.
I am very grateful to all the schools who took the time to attend the Forum and I am also grateful to the environment charity, Hope for the Future, who also attended. I am looking forward to raising the children’s ideas with both the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs and also Leeds City Council.”
