It was a pleasure to visit Pytchley Court Care Home in Brixworth on Monday.
I was very grateful that Baroness Casey was able to join me for the visit as part of her national review into social care. It was important to me that she had the opportunity to hear directly from frontline staff about their experiences and the realities of delivering care day to day.
We had valuable and honest conversations with staff, who shared their insights into the challenges and pressures facing the sector, as well as the dedication and commitment they bring to their roles.
Baroness Casey also took the time to listen to families whose relatives had experienced very poor care in other settings. These were difficult but important conversations, and I am grateful to those who came forward to share their experiences.
It is vital that the review reflects both the strengths of the sector and the areas where change is needed. I am grateful to Baroness Casey for taking the time to listen so carefully, and I will continue to engage constructively with the review as it progresses.
