My Six Point Plan

My Six Point Plan for Pudsey, Horsforth and Aireborough.

1. Invest in our NHS

I fought to save the Children’s heart unit and I'll fight to ensure our local services benefit from the extra funding announced, such as the £450m secured to build a modern Leeds hospital. Please see our campaign on the Leeds General Infirmary here.

2. Improving transport

Having campaigned for the new trains we are starting to see on our local lines, I know there is still more to do. I'm campaigning for rail access to the airport and investment in the Ring Road and the A65.

3. Education and apprenticeships

Local head teachers tell me that funding has been an issue. Now every single student in every single school will get more funding and I want to build on the 7,000 apprenticeships offered to local young people since 2010.

4. Saving our green spaces

I will continue to work with local residents and community groups to save green spaces that are under threat of development thanks to Leeds Labour Council. We need to preserve these sites for future generations to enjoy.

5. Protecting our environment

I have formed an Environment Forum to which all local schools were invited to attend and will continue to hold these so young people have their say about the future of our environment.

6. Fighting crime

Crime and antisocial behaviour is an issue often raised with me. That's why I'm pleased the Government is hiring 20,000 new police officers and I'll make sure our area gets its fair share.
