Happy to be home in the constituency for the Bank Holiday weekend after a busy few weeks back and forth from Westminster.
This week in Parliament it was a pleasure to host the Local Charity Champions Reception at Number 10 Downing Street. Local charities have been a lifeline for many across the country, sacrificing their time and energy for the greater good, often without recognition. I was pleased to welcome representatives of charities from across the country to celebrate that selfless work.
I was also pleased to see two big announcements in my Ministerial role this week, with our Gambling Act Review White Paper launched, as well as guidance for grassroots clubs on how to handle possible concussion cases.
There were also several important votes this week, including a motion calling on the Government to set a target for the reduction of sewage discharges, to provide financial penalties in relation to sewage discharges and breaches of monitoring requirements, and to carry out an impact assessment of sewage discharges which I was happy to support.
It has been very busy in my Westminster Office, where I have been responding to policy enquiries on a range of issues as always. Several of these have been taken forward to Government Ministers and Departmental officials to ensure that my constituents views are being heard and addressed.
In the patch, preparations for the Coronation of King Charles are well underway. Please do say hello if you see me and the team out preparing for the Guiseley Street Party, which is taking place in Towngate on Sunday 7 May.
Casework arriving in the Constituency office this week remains high with issues with the courts, housing, visa applications, highways, debt, public transport, social security, probate, pensions, healthcare providers and refuse collections all raised with me for my assistance this week.
Myself and my team will remain available as usual over the upcoming Bank Holiday weekend, so please do not hesitate to get in touch if there is anything I can do to be of assistance.
