It was a very short week in Westminster last week due to two Bank Holidays, the Local Elections, the Coronation of HM King Charles III, the Guiseley Street Party, and then to Liverpool for Eurovision, so I am a little late posting.
It was an honour and a privilege to have been invited to attend the Coronation at Westminster Abbey. It was a moving ceremony and a wonderful experience that I will certainly never forget.
In the patch, I was delighted that so many of you came out to celebrate the Coronation at the Guiseley Street Party, as you can see in my posts over the weekend – thank you to all of those who came, it was a great day.
In less cheerful news, the Local Elections earlier in the week were certainly difficult with the loss of respected Councillors and candidates such as Paul Wadsworth, Jackie Shemilt and Jas Singh, although it was great news that Cllr Trish Smith was re-elected. I congratulate all of those who have been elected from all parties, as I have real respect for all of those who put themselves forward.
Regardless of the above, it has still been very busy in both of my offices as always and I have been responding to policy enquiries and taking many issues forward to Government Ministers and officials, as ever.
Constituency casework issues I have been asked to assist with this week include healthcare providers, flooding, air quality and transport restrictions, pensions, taxation, parking, driving licences, housing issues, fraud, public transport, and mental health services.
Myself and my team will remain available as usual while I am working from Liverpool this week, so please do not hesitate to get in touch if there is anything I can do to be of assistance, or if you have any issues you need to raise with me.
