Another busy week in Westminster, and now back in the constituency for a weekend of visits and appointments.
Earlier today I held an urgent meeting with a group of residents in the constituency and their landlord company about increases to their ground rent. I have already written to the Housing Minister on the subject of leasehold reform recently, but I have this week taken this forward again to the Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities to push for swift and meaningful reform to the leasehold structure that benefits existing leaseholders.
Prior to this in Westminster I have been busy responding to the steady number of policy and campaign enquiries, and I also attended an event this week to learn more about Clean Hydrogen. I was also pleased to meet with the Chancellor this week to raise the issues facing charities and swimming pools in my Ministerial capacity.
In the patch, it is great news that the 966 Guiseley to Yeadon Circular will be resuming during off-peak hours, as I have met with a number of constituents to discuss the importance of this service. I understand off-peak hours will cover the majority of travellers on this route and is all that can currently be achieved. I would be grateful if my constituents who use this service would continue to provide me with feedback.
Casework arriving in the office this week remains at its usual high level, with issues relating to rent, housing, benefits, healthcare, waste disposal, planning, littering, passports, gas meters, dentistry and education support all being raised with me for my assistance this week.
I am always here and happy to help, so please do get in touch if there is anything I can do to be of assistance or if you have any issues you wish to raise with me.
