Arrived late back to the constituency this weekend after remaining behind in Westminster to vote on important legislation including the Hunting Trophies (Import Prohibition) Bill, which aims to ban imports of hunting trophies of endangered animals.
Elsewhere in Westminster this week I have been responding to the steady number of policy and campaign enquiries as always, as well as attending the Spring Budget which I posted about earlier in the week.
If you have yet to receive a response to a policy enquiry, I am grateful for your patience – I have received a higher than average number of enquiries in the last two weeks, but I will get back to you as quickly as I can.
I am also pleased to see progress is being made on recent industrial action, both in the NHS and education. I understand a new offer has been made the NHS staff, and that talks are beginning between teaching unions and the Government. I am continuing to monitor both sectors closely for progress, but I welcome all efforts being made towards achieving an agreement.
In the patch, I have been busy holding my Morrisons surgeries today with lots of issues raised with me by constituents.
There has been lots of casework arriving in the office this week, including on the withdrawal and reduction of bus services which I wrote to First Bus and West Yorkshire Metro about last week.
Other issues raised with me this week include highways and gritting, refuse collections, visa applications, housing issues, access to appropriate healthcare, assisting with complaints about existing healthcare services, issues with energy providers, planning applications, issues with the parking meters at a local hospital, passport application support and assisting with access to benefit payments to name but a few.
As ever, I am here to help in any way I can so please do get in touch if there is anything I can do to be of assistance, or if you have any issues you wish to raise with me.
